Skyway Elementary is located in the shadows of Cheyenne Mountain, in the southwest part of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Cheyenne Mountain is home to NORAD and the world-famous Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The historic Broadmoor Hotel is also nearby.

The Skyway staff believes that CHARACTER is the foundation upon which everything else is built. We emphasize character trait words every month.  August is "caring," September is "respect," October is "responsibility," November is "kindness," December is "teamwork," January is "manners," February is "fairness," March is "helpful," April is "trustworthy," and May is "citizenship."  We recognize students for their efforts in practicing these character traits by catching them being good. Students who are caught practicing these desired traits may receive "Comet Blue Slips" for positive behaviors. We also recognize students through our Shining Star Program. Each month, two students from each class are recognized for their citizenship behaviors and attitudes.

Skyway Mission:
To provide a school community, and foster an environment, in which everyone is safe, happy, and challenged to learn and grow to the best of their potential; where foundations of academic, emotional, social, and physical preparation are laid to face tomorrow's challenges; where respect and integrity are fundamental.  Above all, Skyway embraces a leading educational experience where learning is a shared passion.

Friday, March 23rd is a Professional Learning Community day for teachers.  There will be no school for students while teachers are at training.

GR6 Parents:  Cheyenne Mountain Junior High is hosting an information night for Skyway families beginning at 6:00 PM.  Make sure to attend if this is the first year you have a GR7 student.

Quarter 3 report cards will be send home with students on Thursday, March 22nd.  Questions regarding grades may be answered by classroom teacher.  Call 475-6150 and ask for your child's teacher.

Mark your calendar!  You will not want to miss this year's D12 Foundation auction Friday, April 13th.  Tickets are available at https://toef.revtrak.net/purchase-auction-tickets/ and all proceeds benefit Cheyenne Mountain students!  Hope to see you there!

Our annual Colorado Measures of Academic Success season begins Tuesday, March 20th.  For specific testing times for particular grades and contents, see the February and March newsletter.  Make sure your GR3-6 student is at school and on time during this year's testing season.  We are excited to celebrate all students have learned over the past year!

Looking for something to do during Spring Break?  The Pikes Peak Library is hosting a variety of fun, student-centered activities for all ages at various locations throughout Colorado Springs if that works best for your family.  Visit their website at PPLD.org and choose the Cheyenne Mountain location.  Their programs calendar shows all the fun things to do at our local library in addition to books!

Come one, come all!  The marathon continues at Skyway every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:15-7:55.  Collect those sticks to equal 25.2 miles in preparation of the final mile at Cheyenne Mountain High School the last week of school.  This year's focus is mathematics and all the ways math helps our brains function!
